About Russell

Russell Harvard is a third-generation Deaf actor whose career spans film, television, and stage with equal force. He made his feature debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood as Daniel Day-Lewis’ son, went on to star in The Hammer - a festival favorite and Audience Award winner - and later portrayed Jennifer Lawrence’s brother in Apple TV+’s Causeway. On television, he’s best known for his multi-season turn as the enigmatic Mr. Wrench on FX’s Fargo, and has recurred or guest-starred on Switched at Birth, Odd Mom Out, Fringe, and CSI: NY. Next up, Russell co-stars in Oscar-winner Sian Heder’s (CODA) anticipated new film, Being Heumann.

On stage, Russell is a trailblazer. He played dual roles in Broadway’s To Kill A Mockingbird, starred in I Was Most Alive with You at Playwrights Horizons - earning Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel nominations - and appeared alongside Glenda Jackson in Sam Gold’s groundbreaking King Lear. His off-Broadway debut in Tribes earned him a Theatre World Award as well as Drama League, Outer Critics, and Lucille Lortel nominations. A longtime collaborator with Deaf West Theatre, Russell is also the co-founder of Deaf Austin Theatre, helping champion new generations of Deaf talent.

Beyond his stage and screen work, Russell has built a devoted online following for his dynamic ASL interpretations of music bringing rock, dance, and Broadway favorites to life with a style that is equal parts artistry and performance.
